Q: Who is Mr. Harry?
A: First and foremost, I'm a TEACHER! I currently teach Kindergarten at Myers Elementary School in Bellwood, PA. In my 9th year of teaching, I've found there is no better way to connect with youngsters in the classroom than through music and movement. I live in Bellwood, PA, with my beautiful wife, Jen, and my adorable young children, Justice & Paxton. My brother ALSO teaches Kindergarten in inner-city Atlanta, GA, and has collaborated with me on several song projects. I teach on a team with 6 Kindergarten teachers and 3 of us are MALES!
How did Harry Kindergarten Music, LLC get started?
A: I had originally started making a few random songs and videos for my classroom kids back in 2009, hoping that my students would be able to learn and connect on YouTube with their parents in a home setting each night (www.youtube.com/harrykindergarten). However, once I noticed other teachers and parents starting to frequent the YouTube site more often, I realized the power of sharing my educational "creations" with the world. Over 70 million views later, "Harry Kindergarten Music" has become a familiar name in early childhood learning and I'm delighted to sell both video and audio downloads on this very website!
Q: Is your first name Harry?
A: Nope! First name Pete... last name Harry
Q: HELP! I just purchased a Harry Kindergarten song on your website, but I'm not sure how to download it! What do I do?
A: Now that you have an "account" or "username" you'll sign in at the bottom right hand corner of my website page where it says "Login." Once you are logged in, this link (in the bottom right hand corner) will turn into a "My Stuff" link. This is where you'll find all of your purchased content. Once inside of "My Stuff," click on each piece of content (song, video, etc.) that you've purchased individually and download it by clicking the save button (looks like a floppy disk icon) in the top left hand corner of each song. I have also created a pdf document with screen shots, for those who are more visual in nature. Click here to download this pdf.
Q: Do you have a music CD, or just digital downloads?
A: For now, I'm solely offering digital song downloads, in the .m4a format (plays/burns just like mp3's) and videos in the .mp4 format. I'm constantly coming out with new music, so instead of offering a categorized "CD" and then bopping myself for making one more "math" song and having nowhere to put it, I've gone the route of digital downloads. No, they are not on iTunes yet, but may be in the future. Many of the songs are also available to purchase in video form.
Q: I like your videos. What should I do if YouTube is blocked at my school?
A: Buy the video here! I have done my best to make the videos DIRT CHEAP so that teachers can afford them! Please do NOT rip my videos off of YouTube and use them in raw form illegally. Please do NOT rip videos off of my page and upload them to yours. Thanks!
Q: What happened to my favorite Harry Kindergarten video on YouTube? I can't find it anymore!
A: In February 2014, I took off a good chunk of my song content to "re-make" it in various ways, making the songs more professional, more marketable, and just plain better! The vast majority of videos that were removed during that time will gradually re-appear as I re-make them one by one. I truly appreciate your patience as this process is taking place. Thanks for being a fan!
Q: What's the difference between "Freebie" songs and "Exclusive" songs from Harry Kindergarten?
A: Here's the difference...
I am already offering 50+ of my hip educational songs/videos on YouTube FOR FREE!
Download them at www.youtube.com/harrykindergarten.
Enjoy them, utilize them, and share them! I am a current full-time Kindergarten teacher so I know what it's like to be looking around for quality content in my classroom! You can ALSO purchase the raw video file and/or audio file of those 50+ songs at my website (if you need them for some reason). I will continue to make freebie videos (ones you can just stream on YouTube for free) periodically, so continue to check back to see if I've posted any.
My exclusive content works like this: You can watch the preview video (teaser commercial) on YouTube and then download the FULL VIDEO at this website.
Most video downloads: Just $2.49! (.mp4)
Audio downloads: Just $1.00! (.m4a, plays/burns in iTunes, just like an .mp3)
Q: I have footage of my classroom kiddos singing Harry Kindergarten songs. Where can I share these sweet vids?
A: If you have clips of your students and/or children singing my songs, we'd all love to see them! Please share a YouTube link of it or the raw video of your kiddos at my Facebook group page:
Remember to make sure you have the permission of the students' parent/guardians before you post it to the Internet!
Q: What does your music sound like?
A: My children's music is a blend of styles, with many of the songs containing rap and hip-hop. Nonetheless, every song is fun and educational. I believe strongly that music for kids does not always have to sound "cheesy," even for younger-aged children. My music is heavily influenced by Jack Hartmann, who I got to meet at a teacher conference in 2009. Please consider checking out Jack's stuff too! (www.jackhartmann.com)
Q: How do most teachers use Harry Kindergarten music?
A: My music can be used in a whole host of ways in the classroom. Many Pre K-2 teachers highlight my songs in their morning opening time or calendar time, sometimes utilizing an interactive whiteboard or PowerPoint. Many of the songs can be used for transitions in the classroom (walking to the carpet, changing positions, etc.) and of course just for general teaching of standards-based concepts. I personally have a defined song time each morning in my own class, where music and movement is the centerpiece! I've also sold hundreds of songs to educators who are looking for snazzy end-of-the-year graduation songs for their class to sing to parents. Please contact me if you'd like suggestions.
Q: Do you collaborate with educators?
A: While I am extremely busy, I've had hundreds of terrific phone calls and e-mails with various educators as a result of Harry Kindergarten Music, and love to collaborate. If you have any ideas for a song, just want to "chat education," or have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at email@example.com, or through the "CONTACT" tab on this website's menu.
Q: Do you speak at conferences, do school visits, etc.?
A: YES. While my schedule is tight (I am a real classroom teacher!), I do take on speaking engagements at teacher conferences, schools, etc… Please don't hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or through the "CONTACT" tab on this website's menu to set up a speaking engagement. I typically speak on the use of music and technology in the early childhood classroom, classroom management, and facilitating a morning meeting. Rates/prices vary depending on the event.
Q: How else can I support Harry Kindergarten Music?
A: Visit my Patreon Webpage (www.patreon.com/harrykindergarten) and you can support me on a monthly basis (pledge-based giving) to financially "invest" into Harry Kindergarten Music and motivate me to make more "stuff." My Patreon page is NOT a subscription to have access to all of my videos. It IS a way to help me with purchasing resources that will go directly back into making great content for you (i.e. licenses, stock images, legal stuff, computer programs, etc…)
